The YMCA of Central Kentucky hosted the 13th annual Reindeer Ramble at Keeneland on the morning of December 8. Friends, family, and even their pets all ventured out in the 20 degree weather to participate in the 5K/10K race.
All proceeds raised at the Reindeer Ramble was collected to provide children the opportunity for an enriching summer making new friends, learning new things and having fun at one of YMCA’s summer camps.
Participants were encouraged to dress up in their favorite holiday attire. The runners did not disappoint. Many participants wore their favorite Christmas sweaters, or dressed up as elves, Santa, reindeer, the Grinch, and we even saw a couple dressed as milk and cookies.
Each summer hundreds of youths go on an adventure where they can explore and figure our new talents or interests while attending summer camp. Through the generosity of donors, the Y’s financial assistance program offers families a way to apply for assistance on a sliding fee scale that’s designed to fit each individual’s financial situation. No child is turned away. For 13 years, the proceeds from The Reindeer Ramble has provided scholarships for kids to attend YMCA summer camps.
