Hamburg area business professionals recently volunteered to take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. On Friday, August 29th, a number of Hamburg bank presidents and executives took part in the viral Ice Bucket Challenge. The challenge took place at Cheapside Park.
“It just speaks volumes of Lexington,” said event organizer Paul Chartier. “In one week we can come together and have a crazy, stupid event and have leaders in our community not say no to this and run to the front of the line and want to do it; it’s fantastic.”
The Ice Bucket Challenge raises money and awareness for ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. “ALS is a neurological degenerative disease that basically attacks all of your voluntary muscles which ends up 100 percent fatal in all of our patients,” said Jennifer Houston of the ALS Association Kentucky Chapter.
