This Valentine’s Day, we know the BEST place for you to go for you to find a lifelong love connection.

Our local Humane Societies are a treasure trove of loving four-legged friends who want to become a part of your family.

You’ll be assured a lifetime of hugs and kisses (and not one of these guys will leave their dirty socks on the floor).

We’re introducing just a few of them here, but we encourage you to visit Lexington Humane Society, the satellite location of Lexington Humane at Hamburg’s PetSmart, and Woodford Humane in Versailles.

If you are interested in a specific breed (Labrador? St. Bernard? Beagle?), we encourage you to have a conversation with one of their highly skilled adoption counselors. Purebreds are taken into our Humane Societies every day, and the odds of the perfect match are very high. Call or visit today!

Adopt at woodfordhumane.org
Name: Juneau
Breed: Husky
Sex: Female (spayed)
Age: 4 years
Description: White hair, blue eyes, 50 lbs
Seeking: A running partner
Likes: Exercise and fitness; singing; snowy days; your undivided attention
Dislikes: Lazy days (too many of them, anyway); sharing you with others

A queen gets what she wants – and I don’t want to share you with other pets or kids. But if you’re looking for your one-and-only, I’m your gal! Must be active, fun-loving, and enjoy my beautiful voice. I’m a husky, after all. I’m smart and I know it, so I hope you’ll teach me lots of new tricks!

Adopt at woodfordhumane.org
Name: Angelo
Breed: Pit bull mix
Sex: Male (neutered)
Age: 2 ½ years
Description: Auburn hair, brown eyes, 55 lbs
Seeking: A big ol’ family
Likes: Snuggles from anybody and everybody; long walks (on the beach or elsewhere); treats; chew toys; more chew toys
Dislikes: Little critters; being lonely

I’m a people person, so I’m all about making friends – and I will be a heck of a friend to you, your significant other, your kids, the neighbors, the mailman…you name it! Not so fond of small dogs and cats, though. All I really want is a family to play and snuggle with – preferably with at least one person who “accidentally” drops food on the regular.

Xanthe (photo by Jodi Wilson)
Adopt at woodfordhumane.org
Name: Xanthe
Breed: Domestic short hair
Sex: Female (spayed)
Age: 1 ½ years
Description: Torbie coat, golden eyes, 9 lbs
Seeking: A low-key soulmate
Likes: Sunbeams to snooze in; other cats; jingle bells and feathers
Dislikes: Chaos; catnip shortages

I can be a little shy sometimes, so it’s hard to meet people. I’ve been single for a long time – since I was just a kitten back in the summer of 2013, in fact. But give me a minute to get to know you, and you’ll see I’m just as sweet and silly as I look (and yes, I know my eyes look funny…but you better believe I rock it). I get along great with other cats, and I’m just looking for a low-key friend to chill with.

Trixie (photo by Jodi Wilson)
Adopt at Woodford Humane Org
Name: Trixie
Breed: Domestic short hair
Sex: Female (spayed)
Age: 9 years
Description: Black and white, golden eyes, 10 lbs
Seeking: Someone just as playful as I am
Likes: Toys of all kinds; other cats; lots of company
Dislikes: Not much

Can’t believe I’m still single…some people seem to think I’m too old, but age ain’t nothin’ but a number, baby! I am as energetic and playful as any cat out there, but with the added bonus of being ready to settle down and snuggle as soon as playtime is over. I’m the best of both worlds. Come on over and find out what you’re missing, I’ll purr up a storm for you.

Shadow (photo by Jodi Wilson)
Adopt at woodfordhumane.org
Name: Shadow
Breed: Siamese mix
Sex: Male (neutered)
Age: 10 ½ years
Description: Blue point coat, blue eyes, 12 lbs
Seeking: Someone to talk to
Likes: Deep, intellectual conversation; comfy perches; looking sharp
Dislikes: Whippersnappers; kids today with their loud music; tomfoolery

I am a mature gentleman with refined tastes, which I will happily discuss with you at length. At the end of our many philosophical discussions, it will be my pleasure to curl up with you for a contemplative purr. I prefer to be the only cat in your life – after all, I am peerless – and don’t even get me started on dogs. But people? People, I like.
