A sampling of summer favorites

There’s no better place to be than Lexington in the summertime. From runs and walks to fairs and fests, there’s something for everyone near Hamburg and throughout Lexington this summer.

FAIRS & FESTS

The 2021 Berea Craft Festival is Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11 in downtown Berea. Friday/Saturday 10am-6pm; Sunday 10am-5pm.

BreyerFest 2021 is Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 18. It is a virtual event this year; no in-person events or activities take place at Kentucky Horse Park.

The Diamond Rings & Pretty Things Wedding Show is Sunday, July 18 from 11 am – 4 pm at Central Bank Center.

The Hops & Vine Festival is Saturday, July 24 from 2 pm – 10 pm in downtown Richmond, KY.

The Woodland Arts Fair returns to Woodland Park near downtown August 21 and 22.

 

HOME AND GARDEN 

The Bluegrass Iris Society hosts their annual club fundraiser Iris Sale on July 31 at 10 am, the lower level of Lexington Green.

This year’s BIA’s Grand Tour of Homes is scheduled for September and the Tour of Remodeled Homes for October. This annual favorite always features a diverse array of homes in our neighborhood.

 

MOVIES 

Regal Cinemas Hamburg hosts their 2021 Summer Movie Express series on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning on Tuesday, July 6 through Wednesday, August 4.

Free Friday Flicks has returned to Jacobson Park for the Summer! There will be a screening of The Croods 2: A New Age on Friday, July 16. Activities begin at 7 pm and the movie begins at dark.

 

MUSIC

Vibe in the Vines featuring Sundy Best is Saturday, July 3 from 11 am – 11 pm at Chenault Vineyards in Richmond.

Lexington’s Picnic With the Pops will return to Keene Meadow August 14, 2021. For over 40 years, Picnic with the Pops has hosted Lexington’s longest-running outdoor music event. PWP has become the city’s favorite Summer event featuring a unique world-class guest artist each year, music by The Lexington Philharmonic, picnic dinners, contests and more in a light-hearted, family-friendly atmosphere.

Railbird Festival returns to Lexington on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 at Keeneland.

 

PARKS AND REC 

The spraygrounds at Jacobson Park are open daily, and the Jacobson boat dock is open on the weekends.

RUNS & WALKS

The Virtual Great Buffalo Chase 5K is July 2-4.

Bluegrass 10,000 is Saturday, July 3 at 8 am throughout downtown Lexington.

The Distillery Dash 5k/10k is Friday, July 9 at 7 pm at Masterson Station Park.

Crank & Boom Sprint for Scoops 3K is Friday, July 16 at 7:30 pm at Wellington Park.

BreyerFest 5K Virtual Run/Walk is July 16-18.

Christmas in July 6K is on Saturday, July 24 at 8 am at Coldstream Research Park.

Shepherd’s House Run For Recovery is Saturday, July 24 at 8 am at Keeneland.

Radler Rush Cross Country 5k/10k is Friday, July 30 at 7 pm at Masterson Station Park.

Midsummer Night’s Run is Saturday, August 14 at 7:30 pm in downtown Lexington.

 

SPORTS

Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show is July 12-17 at Kentucky Horse Park.

The 45th Boys Junior PGA Championship is July 10-15 at Kearney Hill Golf Links (July 10 – 11 Practice Rounds & July 12 – 15 Competition).

 

LEXINGTON RESTAURANT WEEK 2021

Lexington Restaurant Week 2021 kicks off on Thursday, July 22 through Sunday, August 1.

Over 30 of Lexington’s best restaurants offer multi-course prix-fixe specials for 11-days, including several in and around our neighborhood!
