William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, will take the stage in a dark, modern interpretation directed by Matthew Johnson and Jenny Fitzpatrick and jointly produced by the Appalachian Shakespeare Center at EKU and Blackbird Dance Theatre. Showings are January 7-9, and January 14-16 at EKU Center for the Arts.

New You in 2022 Expo, Embassy Suites.

The Lexington Theatre Company’s signature January concert brings together Broadway stars and talented young artists from around the country, to illustrate the company’s mission of creating professional theatre and training the next generation of theatre artists to create a shared experience of storytelling, 8 pm at Lexington Opera House.

UK men’s basketball takes on Georgia at 6 pm at Rupp Arena.

Enjoy an afternoon of Charcuterie and Wine! Learn the basics of charcuterie building like: selection of products, how much supplies to buy for guest amounts, and what types of arrangements to use. Classes are at 2 pm or 3:30 pm, Harkness Edwards Vineyards in Winchester.

Troubadour Concert Series presents Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, 7:30 pm, Lexington Opera House.

FRI JAN 14 

Excite Night returns to Rupp Arena. UK’s Women’s Gymnastics opens their 2022 regular season against Southeastern Conference foe Georgia on Friday, Jan. 14. The 7 pm contest will mark the program’s yearly Excite Night meet inside Rupp Arena, following a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

SAT JAN 15 

UK plays Tennessee at Rupp Arena.

Chenault Vineyard presents the third Mario’s Night and live music By Donovan Howard, 6 pm.

Live music from Lauren Mink and Dale Adams at Talon Winery, 4 pm.

 

MON JAN 17

Harlem Globetrotters, 2 pm, Rupp Arena

 

WED JAN 19 

ACM/CMA Award Winner and Grammy Nominee, Elle King gives a live intimate performance at 7:30 pm, Lexington Opera House.

Rise is a community rally on behalf of the orphan, encouraging the community to answer the call to care. Join with others across the region for a night of prayer, worship and encouragement.  6:30 pm Southland Christian Church, Richmond Road campus.

SAT JAN 29 

Take the Urban Mountain Challenge at the Lexington Financial Center. The 8th Annual Urban Mountain Challenge is Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 8:30am at the Big Blue Building in downtown Lexington.

This year there will be two challenges: “Climb Big Blue” (A stair climb of the 31 story Big Blue Building) and “The Downtown Double Challenge” (A five story parking garage helix climb followed by a climb of the Big Blue Building).

The event will feature chip timing, tech shirts (while supplies last), and overall & age group awards. Climbers will be sent off individually based on seeding.  There will also be a special Military/Public Service Division for our military/police/fire personnel.

 

Winter Jam concert is at 6 pm at Rupp Arena.

7th Annual Chili Challenge at Talon Winery, noon.

 

SUN JAN 30 

An Officer and a Gentleman, based on the Oscar-winning film starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger, features the Grammy Award winning ‘“Up Where We Belong’, and a score based on the 1980s catalogue of music, 1 pm and 6:30 pm at the Lexington Opera House.

FEB 6 – Immanuel Baptist will launch its new Georgetown Campus on February 6 2022.

MAR 12 – Lexington’s St. Patrick Parade is scheduled for March 12 downtown.

MAR 25 – Old Crow Medicine Show will perform at EKU Center for the Arts on March 25, 2022.
