Who is eligible to get tested for COVID-19 in Lexington? Where is the drive-thru testing taking place in the Hamburg area?

drive-thru testingIt was announced on April 22 during Governor Beshear’s daily updates that not only Lexington, but Hamburg will be getting drive-thru testing.

Starting Friday, April 24, drive-thru testing for COVID-19 will be available at 2296 Executive Drive (the corner of Winchester Road and Executive Drive). Most Hamburg residents will recognize this location as the former home of Rite Aid. In February 2019, Walgreens acquired 1,932 Rite Aids across the country.

The testing will run seven days a week from 9 am until 5 pm. Tests will continue for approximately two weeks, or until they run out of test kits (testing approximately 200 per day).

Those who want to get tested must make an appointment by filling out an online assessment, come to the site in a vehicle, and meet certain requirements. Those eligible for testing must be:

  • Healthcare workers, with or without symptoms
  • First responders, with or without symptoms
  • Individuals over age 18 with symptoms

With guidance at the testing site, the test is conducted from the safety of your vehicle with a self-administered nasal swab. Results will be distributed by phone within 24 hours.

For those wanting to get tested, please register online prior to arriving.
