Wednesday, Jan. 4

Barnes and Noble in Hamburg Pavilion has announced a change in its storytime for children. The Weekday Storytime is now on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. Visitors can come by the children’s section at the back of the store for a fun-filled storytime with a craft/activity to follow each Wednesday of the month, starting at 10 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 5

Meet the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Division of Police Canine Unit – a group of highly trained dogs, able to detect explosives, search buildings, sniff out illegal drugs, help with patrols, and even apprehend criminals. Barnes and Noble in Hamburg Pavilion will host a Lego Skyline London and Chicago event on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. Visitors can help build the exciting, new Lego Skyline collection in-store display for London and Chicago. Then after, enjoy being creative and collaborative with other customers by building with Lego Architecture Studio white bricks.

Saturday, Jan. 7

Barnes and Noble at Hamburg Pavillon will host “Clifford’s Good Deeds and Clifford the Big Red Dog Storytime” Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. For this storytime, young readers are invited into the happy world of Clifford the Big Red Dog and his friends. Barnes and Noble staff will read favorites Clifford’s Good Deeds and Clifford the Big Red Dog. There will be activities and coloring to follow.

Thursday, Jan 12

The Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library will host “Little Leonardos” class Thursday, Jan. 12 from 2 until 2:45 p.m.  This is an art and science exploration program for toddlers and preschoolers using a variety of materials and methods. Saturday, Jan 14

The Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library will host a Saturday Drop-in Craft workshop Saturday, Jan. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drop-in craft is for children of all ages. For more information, call 859.231.5500.

Friday, Jan 20

The Teen Action Board for the Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library will have a meeting Friday, Jan. 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Join the TAB to plan events for teens, eat pizza, and even earn volunteer hours for school. The board is open for students in grades 7 through 12.

ERTH’s Dinosaur Zoo Live will be presented Friday, Jan. 20 at the Norton Center for the Arts, starting at 7 p.m. Get ready for the ultimate playdate – 65 million years in the making – as Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live guides your family on a breathtaking tour through pre-historic Australia. The Lexington Children’s Theatre will present Cows Don’t Fly and Other Known Facts Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. Between a flying cow, a driving pig, and a circus goose – there’s never a dull moment on Miss Rosemary’s farm. The Baby, it’s Cold Outside Preschool Dance Party will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 2 until 3 p.m. in the large conference room of the Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library. For ages 2-6. Reservations begins Jan. 10. To register, call 859.231.5500.

The Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library will host a Teen DIY Night Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 6 until 7 p.m. During the event, guests can decorate a mug to take home. All materials provided. Half Price Books at Hamburg Pavilion hosts Last Saturday Storytime each month. The event begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28. This event is free and open to the public.
