LFD Makes Dog Rescue.<\/b><\/h2>\n
On Aug. 7, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a call of a trapped dog in a storm sewer on the 2300 block of Lake Park Rd. The dog, Charlie, had fallen an estimated 15 feet inside the storm sewer. <\/span><\/p>\n

But fire crews, which consisted of around 12 firefighters, quickly went to work to rescue Charlie. A hazmat supervisor monitored the air quality before setting up the Arizona vortex for a confined space rescue. Captain Dustin Whited picked Firefighter Josh Day for the assignment. <\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cI picked him because he\u2019s a big dog lover,\u201d Whited said. \u201cHe loves his dogs at home. You don\u2019t know what kind of temperament that dog is going to have when you get down in there. Abby, the owner, said that typically it was a pretty passive dog, but she\u2019s very protective of (Abby). He had to get down there and make friends, and then he tied a harness around the dog with a rope to haul her out.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

It only took around 10 minutes to make the rescue. <\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cWe all work as a crew,\u201d Whited said. \u201cI had two or three guys that were operating rope, and I had an edge attendant that\u2019srunning the hole. We\u2019ve got one guy going in the hole to rescue the dog, a backup guy for him. Our hazmat guy there. It\u2019s a team effort. Everybody had a job to do and they all did it well.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Paint Your Own Pet Class <\/b><\/p>\n
Artist Connor Query will be hosting the Lexington Pit Crew community for a “Paint Your Own Pet” class on Sunday, September 11th between 12-2pm!<\/span><\/p>\n
The cost of the class is $50, and 15% of the class proceeds will be donated to LPC. All attendees will get to take home the ornament they paint as well as an “Adopt Don’t Shop” ornament wood-burned by Connor herself.
