HAMBURG LENT AND EASTER CALENDAR 2015<\/p>\n

Easter Oratorio<\/em><\/p>\n

There will be two Lexington performances of the Thy Will Be Done Easter Oratorio<\/em><\/strong>, produced by Dr. Everett McCorvey and starring Metropolitan Opera tenor Greg Turay as Jesus. One performance is at Tates Creek Presbyterian<\/strong> (on Rapid Run Drive) on March 25 at 4 pm. Another is at Cathedral of Christ The King<\/strong> (on Colony) on March 29 at 7:30 pm.<\/p>\n

The Thy Will Be Done Easter Oratorio <\/em>was composed by Lexington\u2019s Angela Rice. The work received national attention when it was selected to be part of the Music Reading Session at the 2013 Montreat Presbyterian Music Conference.<\/p>\n

Since the debut during the 2012 season, Rice has expanded the work from a cantata of 16 musical numbers to an oratorio of 30 pieces about Jesus\u2019 life, ministry, crucifixion, resurrection and impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve tried to use the music to depict the emotions of the characters in the specific biblical contexts,\u201d said Rice. \u201cI hope that as you listen you can hear the love, surrender, obedience, despair, humility and awe \u2013 emotions that the characters experienced.\u201d<\/p>\n

Passion Play<\/em><\/p>\n

The Lexington Passion Play <\/strong>is at Gardenside Baptist Church <\/strong>from March 20 – 22 and March 27 – 29. The play is a refreshed production of the passion of Jesus featuring a new script and updated music.<\/p>\n

Easter Egg Hunts<\/em><\/p>\n

March 28: Egg Hunt at Buffalo Trace<\/strong>: Search for thousands of treat-filled eggs while drinking refreshments and snapping pictures with the Easter Bunny. Begins at 1 pm.<\/p>\n

April 4: Hippity Hop Hunt at Kentucky Horse Park<\/strong> includes an egg hunt, crafts, and the Easter Bunny. The event starts at 11 am, but is open to campers only. Contact KHP Campground at 800.370.6416 for reservations.<\/p>\n

April 5: Easter Egg Hunt at Christ Church Cathedral<\/strong> at 10 am.<\/p>\n

April 12: Spring Fling and Easter Egg Hunt at The Willows<\/strong> off 2531 Old Rosebud Road. 11 am – 3 pm. The egg hunt is 1 – 2 pm. There will also be a silent auction, craft vendors, and the Easter Bunny. Refreshments will be provided.<\/p>\n
