Buc-ee’s is coming to Kentucky
What’s the big deal about the multi-million dollar construction project bringing Kentucky’s first Buc-ee’s to Richmond? The Texas-based mega-gas station chain has such a cult following that Atlanta Magazine recently published a Top Ten List of Items You Shouldn’t Miss at Buc-ee’s, and they didn’t even get to gas until number 10. As their website touts “Ever since our inception in 1982, we have been committed to providing a clean, friendly, and in stock experience for our customers.” They’re also known for the cleanliness of their “award-winning” restrooms. Clean bathrooms and stocked shelves are all too hard to come by COVID-era, so it’s not surprising their Richmond location is projected to be a hit.
Hamburg is a popular home to Ghost Kitchens. Famous Dave’s, for example, exited the Lexington market years ago, and there is no dine-in space devoted to the famous BBQ. There is, however, a “ghost kitchen” for Famous Dave’s located inside Johnny Carino’s, where you can order delivery. As Wing Zone explains the concept, “Ghost kitchens are designed for point-of-sale and/or delivery services and may house more than one restaurant at a time. These kitchens provide all the room needed for food preparation and cooking and allow owners to capitalize on delivery services and platforms like UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, and others.”
Some local commercial space shares are also occasionally referred to as ghost kitchens, but the concept is really just more “culinary roommates.” For example, Baby Face Grub serves out of the back door of Wild Thyme in Chinoe. Zuckerman’s offers Jewish Deli Fare out of the Lynagh’s space near campus.
Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is at long last prepping for its real Hamburg opening in Brighton. It’s taking over the spot formerly occupied by another purveyor of frozen treats, Orange Leaf. The long-anticipated opening has been delayed by supply chain/ construction issues.
Hola Havana now has pick up and curbside ordering available online, with delivery in the works.
KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot is coming soon to Richmond Road.
Walking Dead fans have a new reason to celebrate. Lexington has been announced as the home of the next Nic and Norman’s, the concept from the show’s producer Greg Nicotero and Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon.
