During the next @330 Series event presented by Manpower of Central Kentucky on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 3:30-5 p.m. at Commerce Lexington’s first floor conference room, attendees will learn why developing soft skills for employee success and productivity is more important than ever, how leadership development is fundamental to soft skill building, and steps a business leader can take to develop employee leadership potential that encompasses soft skills.
The Kentucky BASH will be held Friday, Sept. 2 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Keeneland Entertainment Center. The event is the Commerce Lexington’s largest fundraiser of the year and serves as the kickoff to the University of Kentucky’s football season. UK Coach Mark Stoops and his wife Chantel have been wonderful supporters of our event, lending their time, energy and resources. The evening will include live entertainment, bourbon tastings, the Jim Beam Quarterback Challenge, sophisticated southern menu and a large silent auction. A Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is being built in front of the Cabela’s location at 1510 Conservation Way in Lexington.
Co-founded in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon, and their friend and business partner, Scott Redler, the three men named the restaurant after Bill and Randy’s father, Freddy Simon, a World War II veteran.
Freddy’s restaurants from coast-to-coast serve a menu reminiscent of the all-American meals Freddy prepared for his family. The company’s slogan is “the taste that brings you back.”
God’s Pantry Food Bank Board of Directors announced Ame Sweetall has been appointed interim CEO of the Food Bank, and will take over following Marian Guinn’s departure. In addition to being a longtime supporter, Sweetall has served as a member of the GPFB Marketing & Communications Committee for five years.
“I am honored to have been selected for this role. I am excited to have the opportunity to further the mission, and committed to leading the organization through this important transition” Sweetall said. “Marian Guinn’s leadership has elevated the God’s Pantry Food Bank brand and has created a transformation in the approach to ending hunger in central and eastern Kentucky. We thank her for her commitment and the important role she played in shaping and achieving the innumerable accomplishments of God’s Pantry Food Bank over the last 19 years.”
Sweetall is the co-owner of APS Communications, an integrated marketing and consulting firm. She brings a combination of marketing, public relations and fund raising solutions experience to the Food Bank. From 1994 to 2004, Sweetall served as the executive director in the Office of Fund Development for the University of Kentucky Hospital, UK Children’s Hospital, Department of Pediatrics and Children’s Miracle Network where responsibilities included planning, organizing and management of all corporate, foundation, event and individual fundraising and strategy.
