The American Diabetes Association Bluegrass has announced its 2016 local Bluegrass Volunteer award winners. The recipients were honored at the Association’s Kiss a Pig event on Oct. 15 at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown.
2016 ADA Bluegrass Award Winners
Volunteer of the Year – Dr. Brooke Hudspeth of Kroger Pharmacy. Hudspeth has been involved for many years now serving on our board, Kiss a Pig committee and works to raise awareness and education of diabetes through speaking engagements, screenings and media opportunities.
Family of the Year – The Hieronymus Family. The Hieronymus family, including GD, Laura, Kelly and Lindsey, have a long-time commitment with the association including involvement with Step Out Walk, Kiss a Pig, and the board of directors. The family has received national recognition for their efforts.
RJ Corman Corporate Partner of the Year – KentuckyOne Health. KentuckyOne Health has been a longtime supporter of the American Diabetes Association through many outlets and in 2016 committed to a Kentucky Statewide Silver Sponsorship increasing its commitment to the association to sponsor multiple events and programs to support the group’s mission. In addition, KentuckyOne Health has had a Step Out Walk team for more than a decade and is still going strong. KentuckyOne Health is also well represented on our board of directors and Kiss a Pig planning committee.
R. Stewart Perry Cure Care Commitment Award – Jim DeMasters- Novo Nordisk. Jim DeMasters has a passion for helping people with diabetes and has made a difference through multiple facets including advocating in Frankfort for children and adults with diabetes, helping institute a local health and wellness committee, assisting companies with internal Stop Diabetes at Work programs and securing funding for programs and events including Kiss a Pig.
