Frederick Douglass High School hosted the second annual Youth Citizens Academy: Fire & Emergency Services Field Day on Monday, October 29. Over 300 students participated in five different stations to include use of a fire engine’s water hose, bleeding control training and certification, fire extinguisher training, and an on-site landing of the medivac helicopter and tour of the aircraft. Thursday, November 1
On November 1, the “Night of the Angels”, the Living Arts & Science Center will present the 11th annual Day of the Dead Festival with a celebration at the Living Arts & Science Center as well as at the Old Episcopal Burying Ground at the corner of E. 3rd Street and Elm Tree Lane.
Friday, November 2
Pleasure Ridge Park football comes to Frederick Douglass for the first round of the KHSAA 6A tournament on Friday November 2 at 7:30 pm. The winner will play the winner of Scott Co. vs Campbell Co. on November 9.
Boone County football comes to Henry Clay for the first round of the KHSAA 6A tournament on Friday November 2 at 7:30 pm. The winner will play the winner of Bryan Station vs Simon Keton on November 9.
Saturday, November 3
Family Storytime at the Eastside Library is every Saturday in November at 10:30 am.
Midway’s Holiday Kick-Off is Saturday, November 3. Area sidewalk craft vendors will be open to fill holiday shopping lists, and City Hall and other downtown locations will be collecting new unwrapped toys for the Woodford County Toys for Tots program.

K-5 Play + Create: Fall Lego Challenge is at the Eastside Library on November 4 at 2 pm.
Tuesday, November 6
Election Day, NO SCHOOL for FCPS and LCA
PAW Patrol Live!: Race to the Rescue will be at Rupp Arena November 6 and 7. PAW Patrol is an animated children’s TV series on Nickelodeon, where a group of six heroic pups work together to protect the community.
Thursday November 8
K-5 Artist’s Studio: Mini Masterpieces at the Eastside Library is November 8. Kids will express their artistic side via a variety of materials & techniques.
Peppermints and Pearls, a Holiday shopping boutique, is at Lexington Christian Academy on November 8 and 9.
Saturday, November 10
Live the magic of the wizarding world with games, crafts, and fantastic fun to celebrate the release of “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” at the Eastside Library on November 10.
The Lexington Veterans Day Parade is November 10 in downtown Lexington at 1 pm. The parade is produced by the City of Lexington and sponsored by VRUCK – the Veterans Resource United Central/Southeastern Kentucky.
Sunday, November 11
Harmony Day Montessori School is hosting an Open House on Sunday, November 11 from 4:30 to 6 pm. This will be an opportunity to speak with staff, current families and learn about the Harmony Day School experience. Harmony Day Montessori School is located in the lower level of Victory Lutheran Church, 2885 Rio Dosa Dr.
Monday, November 12
Maker Monday: Mini Sphero Mazes at Eastside Library is November 12 at 4 pm. Create a tape maze and navigate a mini sphero robot through it. For grades K-5.
Wednesday, November 14
Peppa Pig Live is at EKU Center for the Arts on November 14. Join Peppa, George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and more in an all singing, all-dancing adventure full of songs, games and surprises.
Thursday, November 15
Preschool Imagination Station: Dinosaur Dig at Eastside Library is November 15 at 1:30 pm. Dig for fossils, hatch a dinosaur egg, and more. Recommended for ages 3-5.
Saturday, November 17
The 37th annual Kentucky Book Fair, featuring more than 180 authors from Kentucky and beyond, is November 17 at the Kentucky Horse Park Alltech Arena.
Drop by the Eastside Library for hands-on activities from games to art projects to science experiments. On November 17 the theme is DIY toys.
Tuesday, November 20
On November 20 at the Eastside Library kids can learn to make 2-D games using Scratch, a programming language built to introduce coding to older kids and teens.
Wednesday, November 21

Saturday, November 24
You and your child can assemble a gingerbread picture frame that doubles as a Christmas ornament at The Home Depot on November 24.
Tuesday, November 27
Kick off the holiday season by making your own ugly holiday shirt at Eastside Library on November 27. For ages 10-18.
