Half Price Books in Hamburg has just donated a large amount of books to the Lexington community. How many books? Who are the recipients?

outside view of Half Price BooksThe popular consignment bookstore in Hamburg has just donated more than 6,000 books this past week. This donation is part of their annual “Half Pint Library” book drive.

Half Price Books collects books donated by members of the community since January and they match every donation. Each box was delivered to either area schools or nonprofit organizations.

“We want to make sure that kids—when they’re young—are being shown the value of reading and really to develop that love of reading early,” said Half Price Books district manager Tory Herron.

Last year, the bookstore gave away more than 1 million books. If you have a new or gently used book at home that you no longer want or need, you can stop by their store and drop them off.
