With the end of summer (and the beginning of school), just around the corner, the pools of Fayette County have announced their end-of-summer schedules and closing dates so that residents can plan their last days of swimming, family pool outings and laying poolside accordingly.
So, when do the pools close?
The Douglass and Picadome pools will close for the season on August 3 at 6 pm.
The aquatic centers located at Southland and Castlewood will stay open until August 12 at 5 pm.
The pools and aquatic centers at Shillito, Woodland and Tates Creek will remain open on adjusted hours through Labor Day.
From August 13 until September 1, operating hours will be Monday through Friday 4 to 7 pm, Saturday 11 am until 7 pm and Sunday 1 to 7 pm. Labor Day (September 1) pool hours will be 11 am to 5 pm. More information can be obtained by calling: 859-288-2900.
The Jacobson Park Boat Dock will be open on weekends only until September 28 at 7 pm.
Just five days after closing the pool for the season, the Woodland Aquatic Center will host the annual Dog Paddle from 9 am to 3 pm on September 6th. Owners are invited to bring their dogs out for a swim (Sorry, no humans allowed in the water), with all proceeds benefiting the creation and maintenance of dog parks in Fayette County.
