Dressbarn, a retail store, is closing its doors nationwide soon and one is located in Lexington. Where in Lexington? How many are they closing?
Dressbarn, located in the Hamburg area between Kohl’s and Big Lots, will close its doors soon. It is a part of a nationwide closing of 650 stores.
According to the Chief Financial Officer of Dressbarn, Steven Taylor, the company has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s environment within retail.
The owner, Ascena Retail Group Inc., said it would like to focus on its more profitable brands such as Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Lou & Grey, and others.
Dressbarn has been around for over 50 years, but it wasn’t able to keep up with competition of online shopping and off-price stores like T.J. Maxx.
It has not been announced when the shut downs will begin or when exactly the one located in Hamburg will close its doors. It currently employs around 6,800 people.
