Fayette County Public School students and staff will enjoy a weeklong fall break in October 2022 under the revised 2022-23 instructional calendar, which the Fayette County Board of Education approved on Feb. 28, 2022. The change extends the next school year through Friday, May 26, 2023.
Last fall, many Fayette County Public School parents reached out to Superintendent Demetrus Liggins about the district’s established practice of having a two-day fall break, suggesting a weeklong Fall break instead.
A calendar survey was conducted and more than 68% of the nearly 8,000 people who replied favored the extended break. Also, given the choice between a week off in October or a week off at Thanksgiving, the earlier fall break was the most popular option.
