Airport Board 

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board has appointed Daniel Mason as Chair of the Board, beginning July 1, 2023. Mason is the President of Traditional Bank.  The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. The Airport Board’s 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and confirmed by the Urban County Council.

 

storesCostco Cracks Down 

Earlier this summer, Costco announced a crackdown of the sharing of membership cards. Self-serve checkouts will now require a Costco membership card and/or photo ID. According to Costco, the membership policy isn’t changing, only enforcement strategies. Their public statement “Our membership policy states that our membership cards are not transferable and since expanding our self-service checkout, we’ve noticed that non-member shoppers have been using membership cards that do not belong to them.”

 

Walgreens Wobbles 

Walgreens is expected to close 150 stores in the U.S. in the next year as part of cost-cutting measures according to a July earnings call, reported by CNN.

 

COMING SOON 

Carson’s is coming to Andover, “taking over the former Andover Country Club building off Todds Rd.” with a projected opening of 2024.

Salute to Small Business Awards Luncheon, Noon, Central Bank Center

 

Commerce Lexington’s annual Salute to Small Business Awards recognizes the area’s best small businesses and one exceptional nonprofit organization.

The week-long celebration (August 14-18) will include opportunities to get to know this year’s Category Award winners, concluding with the Salute to Small Business Awards Luncheon on Friday, August 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Central Bank Center in downtown Lexington, where the Small Business of the Year will be announced. 

 

AUG 24 

Women Leading Kentucky’s August Luncheon will include speaker Juli Fulks, Transy’s Women’s Basketball Head Coach, at Noon at the Signature Club.
