Lexington’s newest middle school, planned for 2185 Polo Club Blvd, will be named the Mary E. Britton Middle School.
Dr. Britton (1855-1925) was an American physician, educator, suffragist, journalist, and civil rights activist in Lexington, Ky.
The Mary E. Britton Middle School will be a flexible, collaborative space with a capacity of 1,200 students in grades 6-8. The school, which will prioritize environmentally friendly and energy-efficient strategies, will be completed in June 2025.
