Pet emergency kit
Lexington KY Emergency Management encourages pet owners to take their pets’ needs into account when planning for household emergencies.
A pet emergency kit should contain enough supplies for at least three days to a week, and include everything you’d need to take care of your pet if you had to evacuate your home.
Tips to put together an emergency kit, first select a container that is sturdy enough to handle evacuation and large enough to hold all the contents. Kit contents will depend on what kind of pet but suggestions include pet first aid kit, food and treats, medication, bedding, toys, grooming items, a collar and leash, or anything your pet might use/need on a daily basis.
