Affordable for Seniors
Oasis at Kearney Creek celebrated the grand opening of 96 affordable housing units for seniors with a ribbon cutting.
Mayor Gorton said, “AU Associates, Inc. has been a great partner in increasing affordable housing in Lexington. Since 2014, we’ve been able to use the City’s Affordable Housing Fund to allocate $18.6 million, and leverage over $284 million in private and public investment to construct or preserve 2,390 affordable housing units in Fayette County. Next month, we will have approximately 600 new affordable housing units under construction.
Congratulations to Holly Wiedemann, the AU Associates team, and everyone who continues to work hard to increase affordable housing options for our community.”

Book Club

Dementia-Friendly Restaurant
Ramsey’s Diner hosted the first dementia-friendly restaurant night in Lexington in October. Mayor Linda Gorton said, “In a city that strives to welcome everyone, we must also include people of different ages and abilities. Virginia Bell is a visionary and expert who has helped us all learn what it means to be dementia-friendly. She founded one of the first adult day programs in the country dedicated to those with dementia, Best Friends Adult Day Center – Alzheimer’s and other Dementia Care. And Rob Ramsey has taken the step for his employees to be trained on how to support, understand, and welcome those with dementia and their caregivers. We look forward to many more dementia friendly restaurants in our community!”
