Aqua Tots is the largest international swim school brand developing modern facility for childhood swim lessons in the Bluegrass.
In May of 2016, Aqua-Tots Swim Schools opened its first Kentucky location in south Lexington off Ruccio Way, near Meijer. In a quick five years, Aqua-Tots has become the premier local destination for youth swimming instruction providing the best swim lessons in town.
Husband and wife owners and Lexington natives, Jake and Lindsay Thayer, recognized the need to expand Aqua-Tots into the Hamburg area to offer more accessibility and convenience to high quality swim lessons to those families that live near the east side of town. The new state-of-the-art location opens May 1st and is accepting pre-opening registrations now. This location will include the brand’s most modern features including a 360° view of the pool, updated seating area, kids activity area, newly designed safety seat for small swimmers, automated shower system and an eight station drying zone.
According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of accidental
childhood death between the ages of 1-4 years old. Enrolling a child into a formal swim lesson program can decrease the risk of drowning by 88%. “This is why we love what we do. It is about making a real difference in the communities we serve. A child learning to swim is not only life-changing, but also lifesaving,” says owner and Master Water Safety Instructor, Lindsay Thayer. “I like to compare prioritizing and equipping your child with water safety skills to buckling them into a car seat. It truly is just as important and can be just as impactful if an accident were to occur.”
Aqua-Tots offers swimming instruction to children between 4 months and 12 years old in a small group class format of no more than 4 students per class. The facility teaches lessons seven days per week, year-round, and keeps its indoor pool heated to a comfortable 90 degrees for an optimal learning environment.
Water Safety Instructors go through a rigorous 40-hour training program of online and in-water educational courses and are CPR certified.
