Joella’s Hot Chicken is preparing to open its second location in Hamburg, in the former Blaze Pizza on Sir Barton Way.

The Hamburg location is the brand’s 18th location and will occupy 2,484 square feet. The restaurant will feature both an indoor and outdoor dining area.

“Joella’s is excited to expand in Lexington, bringing our popular hot chicken to Hamburg,” said Christina Happel, regional vice president of operations for Joella’s Hot Chicken. “The Lexington area has welcomed our brand with open arms and we are excited to open this second location to bring our spiced-just-right hot chicken and Southern sides to a whole new group of Lexington families.”

With opening a new location comes the need to fill up at least 40 job positions. Interviews will begin in October for full-time and part-time positions including managers, cooks, cashiers, guest ambassadors, dining room attendants and dishwashers.

Interested applicants can apply online or attend one of the job fairs that will take place at the existing Joella’s in Lexington (101 Cochran Rd, near UK’s campus) on the following dates from 10-7 pm:
  • Monday, Oct. 19
  • Tuesday, Oct. 20
  • Thursday, Oct. 22

Training for all new hires is anticipated to begin the last week in October. The new Joella’s location is scheduled to open later this fall.

The new Joella’s Hot Chicken is located at 2305 Sir Barton Way.
