Tuesday April 2

Baptist Health and the Alzheimer’s Association partner to offer Brainworks, educational series for those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild dementia, on April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Each session is from 2 – 3:30 pm at the Eastside Library.

 

Monday April 8

Miracle-Ear in Hamburg hosts an Open House Event all week long starting Monday, April 18 between 9 am and 5 pm.

 

Tuesday April 9

The Alzheimer’s Association is having a phone program about Effective Communication Strategies on Tuesday, April 9 at 1 pm.

Bluegrass Care Navigators discuss the advanced directive called the “Five Wishes” on April 9 at the Lexington Senior Center at 2 pm. Five Wishes is the first living will, recognized in Kentucky, that talks about your personal, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as your medical wishes.

 

Tuesday April 16

Senior News: older couple happyThe Alzheimer’s Association has invited Laura Mitchell and Liz Evans of Baptist Health to discuss how the MIND diet can offer memory protection on Tuesday, April 16 at 2 pm. This seminar takes place at the Lexington Public Library: Eastside Branch.

Life Care Planning at Lexington Senior Center is April 17 at 10:30 am.

 

Friday April 19

The Sixth Annual Bluegrass Elder Abuse Prevention Conference is Friday, April 19 from 8:30 am to 2 pm at the Lexington Senior Center.

 

Thursday April 25

The Alzheimer’s Association has a webinar presented by Laura Drake about Healthy Living for your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research. Online seminar is on Thursday, April 25 at 11 am.

 

Saturday April 27

Senior News: a graphic for the i know expo 2019The 2019 I Know Expo will be held for the first time at the Lexington Senior Center at 195 Life Lane. It’s scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 10 am to 3 pm. Dozens of vendors who know about aging well and coping with disabilities are on hand to share what they know by chatting one-on-one or through informative presentations on everything from housing, healthcare and insurance, to legal and financial planning, to living well and staying active.

 

The Arthritis Foundation’s Walk to Cure Arthritis is Saturday, April 27 at Masterson Station Park. One in every four Americans has arthritis, making it the nation’s leading cause of disability.
