Physical Rehabilitation Network (PRN), a physical therapy provider and practice management organization, announced its entrance into Kentucky with its acquisition of Professional Rehabilitation Associates, PSC. (PRA). PRA operates three outpatient physical therapy clinics and manages one inpatient care center in the towns of Cynthiana, Paris, Richmond, and Winchester. This acquisition elevates PRN’s nationwide clinic count to 150, across 14 states.

Under this new partnership, PRN will acquire PRA’s three outpatient physical therapy clinics; Harrison Physical Therapy, Paris Physical Therapy and Richmond Physical Therapy and will assume management accountability over PRA’s single inpatient physical therapy care center within the Clark Regional Medical Center.

“This acquisition, and our entrance into Kentucky, not only represents another significant step in growing PRN’s national footprint as we become the nation’s premier support partner and care provider, but it also gives PRN the chance to build on PRA’s strong heritage through our shared style of quality physical therapy care,” said Ajay Gupta, CEO, PRN. All PRA locations will continue to o er pain resolution and recovery solutions through their physical therapy care, hand therapy services, work injury prevention and rehabilitation, sports medicine programs, and more. PRN is a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, a San Francisco-based middle market private equity firm.

Board of Directors

Dr. Larry Goldstein, chair of the University of Kentucky Department of Neurology, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of The American Academy of Neurology (AAN). Goldstein also is co-director of the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, co-director of the UK Neuroscience Research Priority Area and interim director of the UK-Norton Healthcare Stroke Care Network.

CHI Saint Joseph Health resumes its volunteer program

More than a year after CHI Saint Joseph Health paused its volunteer program due to COVID-19, volunteers are now able to provide in-person service at Saint Joseph East, Saint Joseph Hospital and Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East. CHI Saint Joseph Health volunteers help with a variety of tasks at the hospitals, including staffing the information desk, emergency department, surgery waiting areaand gift shop; delivering and labeling mail; escorting patients; performing clerical work and providing pastoral care services.

“Evening of Hope”

Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation hosts an “Evening of Hope” on Saturday, May 15. The event will include 50 hosts from across Kentucky holding a dinner party for eight to 10 guests in their home. There will also be a silent auction.

13th Annual Mind Matters Health Fair

UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging hosts their 13th Annual Mind Matters Health Fair on Monday, May 3 from 10 am to noon, online. The theme is “Hindsight is 2020 in 2021.”

Kentucky Horse Park’s Run/Walk Club

The Kentucky Horse Park’s Run/Walk Club returns on May 3. Run or walk on the park’s 1.5- or 3-mile marked route on Monday evenings from 4:30-7 pm beginning May 3 through September 27. Strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome. To ensure the safety of park guests, bikes are not allowed. Due to the state’s ongoing battle with COVID-19, Kentucky Horse Park guests are required to follow all public health safety guidelines, including face covering requirements and social distancing.

  • While visiting park grounds, guests should adhere to the following:
  • Wear a mask or facial covering
  • Do not use parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms
  • Maintain safe social distancing at least 6 feet
  • Do not congregate in groups
Bluegrass River Run 2021

It’s time to grab a kayak, stand up paddle board, or canoe because Bluegrass River Run 2021 is on Saturday, May 29. The event launches from the beach at Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond, KY. The registration deadline is May 8.

BIG LEX 4 Miler

The 3rd Annual BIG LEX 4 Miler is on Saturday, May 29 at 8 am at Keeneland.

Heart Walk

The Central Kentucky Heart Walk is happening virtually on Saturday, May 8 from 7 am to 7 pm.

Horsey Hundred

The 2021 Horsey Hundred, which is the signature ride of the Bluegrass Cycling Club, takes off at Charles Brooking Park in Georgetown on Saturday, May 29 through Sunday, May 30.
